Vlogging has taken over the world. There are many platforms where people can upload vlogs. Yet one of the most common and most famous platforms is Youtube.
You can find a huge number of vlogging channels on Youtube and it is quite hard to keep track at this point. Whether you do vlogs for passion or for money, the quality of the content you provide decides your worth in this competitive field.
And from my personal experience, I would suggest a flip screen camera for your vlogging career. Many might think ”Why I need a flip screen camera for vlogging” The answer is actually no, you do not necessarily.
You can vlog on anything with a camera but it won’t be a quality vlog. In general, everyone uses a basic DSLR or Mirrorless. Usually, the vloggers will set it down somewhere or on a tripod and start recording.
But, many vloggers prefer flip screen cameras as much as the content matters. To achieve that top-grade quality videos, you need to improve your overall, visuals and audio included with the content.
If you plan on doing it just for fun, yeah, you can just record with your iPhone or some other camera. However, if you want some professional-looking shots and versatility, then you probably should invest in a flip screen camera. Let us look at the perks of using a flip screen camera.
Pros of a Flip Screen Camera
1. Improved Vision
A flip-screen camera offers you a much better vision when you compare it to a fixed screen. Take an example: Imagine you have found the perfect position wherein you need to keep your camera to capture the shot you have been trying for.
Unfortunately, from that angle, you cannot access the screen. Well, you actually can if that screen is maneuverable.
Taking selfies and recording selfie videos are all the hype now. The shift is very evident now. Just see how much front cameras of cell phones have improved over-time.
Back in the day, phones did not even have one. Vloggers are going to be showing their faces a lot as they tend to shoot in the selfie video format.
So, having a screen that flip allows you to see what your camera sees which helps you to get a better view of how everything looks. More importantly, you don’t have to rely on another person to operate the camera.
On top of that, the video is going to be super high-quality since you are using your Camera’s primary lens instead of your phone.
3. Different Angles
If your camera has a screen capable of flipping, you can get quite creative with your video and photographs as you are no longer restricted with a fixed screen.
You can have your camera look sideways and have the screen face you so you see what the camera sees instead of just winging it.
Even you can adjust the angle in case of a selfie video and notice when you are out of frame. In a traditional screen, you would only find that out after you are done recording.
This point didn’t even come into my mind till someone pointed it out and once they did, I liked my flip-screen even better.
A traditional screen tends to get scratches all over its screen unless you protect it and clean it daily. A flip screen can simply be… flipped when not using, maintaining that “fresh from the factory” look.
However, this article won’t feel complete till I look at it from all angles. Turn the coin and here are some problems to take into consideration when getting a flip-screen camera.
The more the number of moving parts in a machine, the lesser its life is going to be. On top of that, it is going to be more susceptible to water damage and fall damage as well which is quite common on all cameras.
Above, I mentioned all the places wherein a flip screen camera excels. However, there are many areas where it suffers and isn’t ideal. There is no camera that is “great” at everything, most only in two or three areas. Outside of that, it isn’t going to be ideal.
In final words, do not worry about it too much if you are just starting your vlogging career. Many vloggers started out with a cheap and terrible camera and they raised up the ladder anyway.
Evaluate all the advantages of a flip screen camera and compare them to other types of cameras, see which one is going to provide you with the most satisfaction, and go with that.
Nonetheless, hope I answered the question “Why do you need a flip screen camera for vlogging” though. Thank you for reading!
